Project Objectives

The project has its overall objective as to create a forum for exploring innovative methodologies for enabling professional planners and designers to be more responsive and effective in addressing urban challenges in contemporary and future African urban settings. These are further clarified the following specific objectives:-

       I.            Search for new innovative approaches for developing the kind of skills and competences required to make professional planners and designers more responsive and effective in addressing urban challenges.

    II.            Explore ways by which the planning and design school and faculty can better engage policy makers, communities, urban authorities, private sector and partners to foster greater awareness and appreciation of consensual planned interventions to local urban challenges.

 III.            Draw lessons from practical case studies and document these for further testing in other African cities and sharing with other planning and design schools in Africa through seminars, roundtables, AAP Newsletter and website and journal publicatins.
